With so much discussion recently around managing our own mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, I wondered do we need to modify our approach to patient care? How are our patient’s managing their mental health and what effect is it having on their ‘physical’ health.
So I have asked my friend, Dr Ramina Yadger-Yalda, a Psychiatric Registrar currently working in a Melbourne hospital’s emergency department, to join us to discuss the Psych in the biopsychosocial model.

2020 was the most volatile year in many of our lives. For us in Victoria, in the midst of our fourth lockdown, we reflect on how the pandemic in 2021 continues to affect our work and movement. What did we learn from 2020? Are there any positives to a lockdown that we can ‘celebrate’?
Clearly, we’d rather be back in a COVID normal state, much like the rest of Australia. However, we are where we are. We will see better days. On the plus side, it makes it easier for us to meet and discuss our experiences and thoughts on the upside to a lockdown.
