Join us for our next Tinto - Exploring the Psych in BioPsychoSocial
The Physio Social Club Tinto is an online evening get together of discussion and sharing.
With so much discussion recently around managing our own mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, I wondered do we need to modify our approach to patient care? How are our patient’s managing their mental health and what effect is it having on their ‘physical’ health.
So I have asked my friend, Dr Ramina Yadger-Yalda, a Psychiatric Registrar currently working in a Melbourne hospital’s emergency department, to join us to discuss the Psych in the biopsychosocial model.
Despite my appreciation of the influence mental health and wellbeing has on my patient’s presentations, my knowledge is likely quite shallow.
Join me, as I discuss with Dr Ramina Yadger-Yalda:
Some of the most common mental illnesses we see in clinic such as depression and anxiety
What is the psychiatric perspective on chronic pain
How do mental health plans function and how can Physios assist the process?
The various indications for Psychiatric referral
A discussion on the more common psychiatric mediations seen in our Physio patients
For more thoughts have a read of my latest blog: Making Patients Cry.
Feel free to join us to ask questions, join the discussion or simply listen along with a glass of tinto.
